Pickin’ in the Park and at the Senior Center
While some Pickin’ in the Park musicians decided to stay indoors this summer at the Gentry Senior Activity Center, others plan to go back outdoors and meet in the park – on the south side – now that the weather is warm again.
Currently, both groups will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month, though some have suggested different meeting nights so music lovers can attend both musical events if they like.
Better lighting, air conditioning, no bugs and the availability of restrooms were a deciding factor in the decision for some to stay at the Gentry SAC. But the open air and the freedom for musicians and music lovers of all ages to come and go freely led other musicians to want to play their instruments and sing in the park during the warm months of the year.
Musicians and music lovers are invited to come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music, whether outdoors in the park or in the comfort of the newly renovated senior center on Gentry’s Main Street, next door to the Gentry Public Library.
