Local farmers and gardeners were selling their fresh produce today on the west side of the Chicken Coop Flea Market, on Gentry’s Main street just west of Arkansas Highway 59. A large shelter is being built for the market on the east side of the business, but vendors will continue to use the west side [...]

Children were learning to weave today during the summer reading program at the Gentry Public Library.
Jerry Lustig led the weaving project for the children.
An afternoon session for children of all ages is scheduled for 4 p.m today.

The opening date for Taylor’s Orchard was moved up from this Saturday to tomorrow (June 18).
Customers will be able to pick their own fruit from the trees or buy freshly-picked fruit from the orchard’s fruit stand.
Peaches and nectarines are ripening now. Blackberries will be available around the Fourth of July.

The Save Mart grocery store is closed today but will reopen Thursday morning at 7 a.m. under new ownership.
Marvin’s purchased the store and is in the process of repricing grocery items downward, cleaning and restocking empty shelves to get ready for Thursday’s opening.
