More on the American Princes cancelation

Earlier this month, we passed on the word that the American Princes, from Little Rock, were canceling a concert at the Smoke & Barrel Tavern, the new venue on Dickson Street.
The band’s publicist told Tuned In the cancelation was the result of a “medical emergency.”
Now, we (officially) know a lot more about it.
Prior to the [...]

A home for indie rock?

Here at the What’s Up! section, it’s tough for us to talk about house concerts.
We know a lot of good music is going on in houses (such as this one a few weeks back), but most owners don’t want the publicity because of the attention it might attract, both in terms of a police presence [...]

Merry Christmas from the blog

Robert Earl Keen sings about Christmas, redneck style. The song is “Merry Christmas From the Family,” and it’s good for a bunch of laughs.
I must credit another blog for introducing me to this video, but this song is so priceless it needs to be repeated.
From all of us here at the blog, Merry Christmas.

Listen Here First — Jesus Chrysler Supercar, Dec. 19 @ Club Froggy’s

The band that is Jesus Chrysler Supercar has existed for about nine months, but it was only about three months ago that they put the pedal to the medal, so to speak.

The best albums of 2008 (or so says us)

It’s that time of year again. There are only eight days until Christmas, and everyone seems to be announcing their best of albums, including Pitchfork, an AP writer, another AP writer (that list is awful, by the way), Metacritic, and many more.
Here are our choices.
And here’s what 11 ½ months of listening have helped me [...]
