The National Symphony Orchestra arrives

After a weeklong jaunt through our state, the National Symphony Orchestra has arrived in Northwest Arkansas. And if you’re looking at this entry within a few hours of its Monday afternoon (3/30) post time, its musicians are spread out throughout Fayetteville as you read, teaching local elementary school students about symphonic music.
The orchestra is visiting [...]

On the Way — Jenny Lewis, July 7 @ George’s Majestic Lounge

Jenny Lewis does “You Are What You Love” from her solo debut. She’s coming to Fayetteville again.
Although Jenny Lewis has performed here before, she was an opening act then.
But with her solo work outside of indie rock darlings Rilo Kiley gaining recognition on its own merits (specifically, the very good 2008 album “Acid Tongue”) it [...]

Making it matter in Alma

The tour is called Make It Matter, and its headliner, Gospel Music Association Dove Award-winning artist Natalie Grant, hopes audience members take that message home.
Grant, along with “American Idol” finalist Chris Sligh, Meredith Andrews and Evan Milby, will perform Thursday (April 2) at the Alma Performing Arts Center.
The concert, Grant says, is not just about [...]

Listen Here First — Cletus Got Shot: A long time coming

It was only a matter of time before local alternative bluegrass band Cletus Got Shot released its first CD. Having formed in the fall of 2007, the band waited until this past January to lay down a collection of tracks.
In the middle of that time period, though, they played countless live performances throughout the region. [...]

In The Spotlight — Dana Falconberry, April 1 @ RZ’s Coffeehouse, UA Campus

But while attending Hendrix College, Falconberry began to play guitar, too, learning Beatles songs and composing tracks of her own. Drawn to the bustling music scene there, she moved to Austin, Texas, in 2005. The singer-songwriter continues to perform there and across the [...]

On The Way — Marshall Tucker Band, Sept. 25 @ The AMP

Who doesn’t like a little flute with their Southern rock ‘n’ roll? The Marshall Tucker Band is coming to Fayetteville, two Web sites are reporting. Above, they sing “Can’t You See.”

While this concert wasn’t formally announced at a party for sponsors of the Arkansas Music Pavilion that the blog was able to attend, it does [...]

On The Way — Peter Frampton, July 21 @ The AMP

Peter Frampton, minus a lot of the hair he used to sport on his album covers. He’s coming to Fayetteville in July. P.S. Is anyone better with a talk box? Anyone?

Come July, there will be a lot of people saying “Show Me The Way” to the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville.
That’s the venue that classic [...]

Froggy’s shows on the move

So, what happened to all those shows that were scheduled for Club Froggy’s but obviously can’t happen there because the venue suddenly closed?
Well, some of that is still up in the air.
But the Taproot and Spineshank shows have been moved to The Gyspy on College, on, March 28 and April 2, respectively.
As for the other [...]

An update on Club Froggy’s — Eviction appealed

We first alerted everyone yesterday that Club Froggy’s had closed, at least temporarily.
Today, Northwest Arkansas Times reporter Scott F. Davis has the legal side of the story.
A judge has ordered club owner Rod Hall out of the building at 402 W. Dickson St., effectively closing the club, which opened last August. 4th Judicial District Judge Mike [...]
